Benefits of dog umbrellas

When it rains it becomes difficult for your pet to decide whether they want to stay indoors or go out for a walk, making you even more confused. After years of domesticated living, wet grass and pavements are something most dogs dislike. And then if your dog has a thick coat, drying becomes even more difficult. Thankfully there are various products available that protect your pet from the rains. Here’s a list of products with their benefits to help you choose better.

1)      Rain hat

A rain hat is one of the oldest products that was designed to protect your dog from the rains. These hats may or may not have a raincoat attached.  One of the main drawbacks of the hat it is small, which means water can easily drip on your pet’s eyes and face making them uncomfortable. Also, it will take a lot of effort to get your pet to wear it.

2)      Dog leash with umbrella

This is one of the most popular products among pet owners these days. The umbrella can be easily attached to a leash and protects your pet thoroughly from the rain. The Dog leash with umbrella is suitable for dogs of all sizes and works better with calm and trained dogs. It is one of the simplest ways to protect your furry friend.

3)      Dog harness with umbrella

A variation of the leash umbrella is the harness umbrella. Similar to the leash umbrella this dog umbrella can be easily attached to the harness. The harness and umbrella usually come together. Parents of very active and large breeds who can be difficult to manage with a leash usually prefer this type.

4)      Raincoats

Doggy raincoats cover your pet’s body completely and are one of the best ways to protect your pet from the rains. Most raincoats have a hood similar to a rain-hat but work better for dogs who are not comfortable with a rain-hat. Once your pet gets accustomed to it, he/she will comfortably walk around wearing it. Another reason to love raincoats is they are available in a wide range of bright colors and patterns that will make your pet look absolutely adorable.

With so many options to protect your pooch, nothing can stop the two of you from your daily walks.

Use dog umbrellas to help Fido enjoy summers

Unlike humans, dogs lack sweat glands to perspire and most of them have a furry coat which only makes the matter worse during summers. Moreover, some dog breeds find it difficult to adapt to this heat especially, those with snub-noses become vulnerable to breathing problems. In fact, the rising temperature during summer puts dogs of all breeds at risk when subjected to constant heat.

Here we bring a few simple tips which can be employed to help your dog overcome the summer heat and keep it comfortably cool and healthy.

Tip 1
Provide a small inflatable pool for your pet dog. It should be shallow and filled with clean water. You can even add a few dog toys in the pool. Most dogs love playing in water pools during summer. You should place the pool indoor or if you want to place it outdoors, keep it under a shaded area.

Tip 2
Elevate the dog bed to a suitable height. If possible, the dog playpen should also be elevated for ensuring ventilation. Also place the playpen in a shaded area.

Tip 3
Replace all the plastic bowls with those of stainless steel, as water in plastic bowls gets warm faster than in metal bowls. The water in the bowl should be changed once every day. Also, make sure that your pet dog is always adequately hydrated.

Tip 4
Install a small fan for your dog in the dog playpen. But you must make sure that the fan is steadily rested and the cord is properly insulated and caged so as to avoid chewing or pawing at it. You can hang some scented wet towels in front of the fan to add a pleasant fragrance to the air.

Tip 5
Change the timing of walks with your pup. Avoid taking your dog out in the heat. Instead go for a walk post dawn. However, if it is necessary to take him out, ensure to carry a dog umbrella with you.

Tip 6
Restrict physical activities and games for your dog, as it might make him/her weak and drowsy. Instead, provide toys for indoor gaming to keep it entertained.

Tip 7
Traveling with your dog is not a good option during summer. But, if you need to go on a long trip, make sure that you take a well-ventilated pet carrier with you. Another thing you must not forget is that it is quite dangerous to keep your dog locked alone in the car, as the interior of the car gets uncomfortable during summer.
